Our Story

Love at First Sight

8/26/17

His Story

I first saw Megan when she came over to a mutual friend's house for a boating trip. I thought she was pretty so I was a bit nervous to talk to her, but managed to fit in a few short conversations before we got on the boat.

I also learned that Megan has quite the throwing arm. I asked to borrow some of her sunscreen on the boat, but she threw it at me hard enough that I dropped it into the water. There was only one way to salvage this disaster - so I jumped into the water to fetch the sunscreen and be her hero. At least then we had more to talk about once I managed to swim back to the boat.

Her Story

Trevor and I first met through mutual friends who invited us to go boating. I thought he was very shy because he was so quiet on the car ride over (little did I know how wrong I was - Trevor is one of the chattiest people I know!)

Once on the boat, Trevor made quite the first impression. He had forgotten his sunscreen so I lightly tossed him mine to use. But, instead of catching the gently tossed sunscreen bottle, he fumbled it right off the deck of the boat. To my surprise, he stripped off his shirt and dove off of the moving boat after it! Long story short: he caught up to the boat unharmed, with my sunscreen in hand…and then talked my ear off for the rest of the day.

First Date

9/7/17

His Story

After the boating trip, I was looking for opportunities to spend more time with Megan, and I found out that she enjoys running. So I politely asked if I could join her sometime on a run to keep her company. I offered to pick her up the next week for a run and then get pizza for dinner (which I secretly hoped would count as a date).

I decided to be direct and tell her upfront about my intentions for a relationship (the first time I had ever done that on a first date without knowing her feelings - yikes!). I ended up being so nervous about our serious DTR conversation that I barely touched my pizza.

Her Story

After talking every single day since the day we met, Trevor invited himself to my house to tag along on a run. Keep in mind that Trevor lived an hour away from me. I couldn't believe he wanted to drive the whole way to York to join me for a measly 1 mile run, but he was quite adamant that he could use the workout.

Afterwards, he took me out to pizza (which kind of defeated the purpose of the run), and told me that he was very interested in me and would like to make things official after we got to know each other a little better. I had to do some catching up to realize that our run hangout counted as a date, but I found his honesty and straightforwardness refreshing...and maybe just a little bit impressive.

Officially Dating

9/28/17

His Story

I've always found it best to involve the parents, so I took Megan's dad out for dinner to make sure he was onboard with our relationship. We ended up spending most of the time talking about cars and house projects, so I knew we were going to get along just fine.

Her Story

Trevor is the first and only guy who has asked permission from my dad to date me. This idea might seem old-fashioned, but I found it very sweet. This gesture, combined with his DTR on the very covert first date, started to set him apart from anyone else I had dated before.

I Love You

3/21/18

His Story

After thinking it over for a while, I decided to tell Megan that I loved her. We happened to be on a romantic walk in the woods during a gentle snowstorm, so I realized this would be a perfect opportunity. At one point, while we were relaxing in the snow, I told her that I loved her and she quickly reciprocated those feelings.

Her Story

After a snow storm, Trevor and I got all bundled up to take a walk through the woods. While we were walking, Trevor tackled me to the ground so we could watch the snow falling together. I felt a bit like Ralphy's brother Randy in the Christmas Story stuck in the snow. While we were sitting there, Trevor said, "I think I'm falling in love with you." To which I said, "You think or you are?" His response? A chuckle and then, "I love you." Cue my heart melting.

Asking for Parents Blessing

7/14/18

His Story

When Megan went to Spain for a week, I knew this was going to be my only chance to ask her parents for their blessing without her knowing. I asked them to keep this a secret so that I could fully surprise Megan on our upcoming trip to Hawaii.

Her Story

Trevor had me absolutely convinced that he hadn't spoken to my parents yet. The worst part? My dad totally hammed it up and gave a stellar "when is that young man going to talk to us" performance for the next 2 months.

The Proposal

9/14/18

His Story

This operation required a lot of careful planning and creative stories to keep Megan from suspecting my plans. The ring I ordered was delayed and had to be shipped directly to Kauai, so I borrowed our rental car while our group was asleep and picked the ring up from the airport.

I had suggested that we watch the sunrise on the beach the next morning, and even though neither of us are morning people, she agreed to wake up and join me. The next morning, Megan did not answer her phone so I had to wake her up and drag her out of bed.

A few minutes later we drove up the shore and found a beautiful cliff overlooking the water, so I suggested that I use my drone to get some sunrise shots. After taking a couple pictures, I started it recording and then shared my heart with her. When I took a knee to propose, her first response was: "Seriously?!" She quickly said "Yes!" and gave me a hug. Then I told her about all the secrets I had been keeping from her.

Her Story

I've always been good at figuring out surprises, but somehow Trevor has always been able to throw me off his tracks so that I am legitimately surprised. The proposal was no exception.

We had plans to watch the sunrise, which I tried my hardest to sleep through. But, Trevor was determined and broke into the girls' room to wake me up. So with my teeth freshly brushed and no makeup, we headed to a little cliff overlooking the ocean.

Trevor wasted no time in getting his drone into the air for some pics (typical), but he then hovered it a few feet from us and put the controller down (NOT typical). I was immediately suspicious but wasn't sure what was going on. He then started his planned speech and pulled out the ring. I was so surprised that the only thing I could think to say was, "Are you serious?! Is this really happening?!" He dropped to his knee, and I'm pretty sure I said "Yes!" barely a second after Trevor asked if I would marry him.
